“NHC helped make our dream a reality.”

“I NEVER THOUGHT I would own my own home, but my daughter was my inspiration. I saw her fix her credit and pick out her house and I said ‘I can do that.’

“I told NHC which house I wanted. I picked out the lot just across from my daughter’s house and watched it just about every day, from the day they cleared the lot to the day the house was finished.

“The closing went really well, but I did not know how to act when I walked out with the keys to My House. It was wonderful!

“I love the closet space; we did not have any in the other places we lived and having two bathrooms that are big enough to move around in is wonderful.

“Owning a home has been everything I ever wanted and more. I could not have done it without my daughter and my co-workers’ support and all the help from the NHC.”

"So I now live in this dream apartment by myself, but I can only say that I am so happy here and I intend to stay here for a very long time."

"My name is Linda C. and I reside in one of NHC's senior housing on Love Street in Greenville.  My husband Walter and I were lucky enough to get this apartment as of Dec. 1st, 2010.  We were previously living in Seneca.  We had been there for over three years.

We were looking to move to the Greenville area where our daughter Amanda, my son-in-law, and our five beautiful grandchildren live.  We also have a grown son, Christopher, also living in Greenville.

My dear husband Walter had been battling heart disease for over 13 years and his wish was to be closer to the kids so he could see them daily.  As luck would have it, the same manager Janet from the Seneca complex called me to tell of new apartments in Greenville that she was also overseeing were available.  I immediately met her at Love St and took the apartment.

We moved in on 12/01/10.  We both fell in love with the size, the location, and the care that went into these apartments.  We bought all new furnishings and began a new chapter in our lives.  But, one never knows what God has in store for us, and sadly my husband Walter. . .passed away six short weeks later on 1/20/11 at the age of sixty.  He only got to be in the apartment for four weeks.  The last two were spent in Hospice House.

So I now live in this dream apartment by myself, but I can only say that I am so happy here and I intend to stay here for a very long time.  The people involved in this project are the nicest, caring, and most helpful people I have ever met.  The Executive Director has been exceptionally friendly and kind to me especially during my time of crisis.  The apartments are large, modern, and energy efficient.

The rebuilding and rejuvenation of downtown is so very important.  Building affordable, energy saving apartments especially for our senior population is so important.  For senior widows living on a fixed income like myself housing is so important.

Thank you so very much for allowing me to be a part of this revitalization project and thank you for giving my husband four weeks of seeing his grandbabies every day.

Thank you Neighborhood Housing for all you do.
